Please avoid waxing if any of the following apply: • You’re using retinoids or prescription acne treatments (e.g. Retin-A, Accutane, Differin) – These can thin the skin and increase the risk of lifting or irritation. • You’ve had a recent chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or laser treatment on the area – Wait at least 2 weeks or get clearance from your provider. • You’re sunburned, peeling, or have open cuts or wounds – Waxing over compromised skin can cause more harm. • You have a rash, cold sore, or active breakout in the area – Waxing can worsen irritation or spread bacteria. • You’re on certain medications like blood thinners or antibiotics – These may increase sensitivity or risk of skin injury. • You’ve recently tanned (natural or spray tan) – Waxing can remove color or irritate sensitized skin. Wait 24–48 hours after tanning. • You’re menstruating or extremely sensitive to pain – Hormonal shifts can make waxing more uncomfortable. Consider booking around your cycle. • You’ve just shaved – Let the hair grow to at least ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice) before waxing for best results.
